The One Who Could Throw The First Stone Didn't.

"They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!" John 8:7

The one who had the right to throw the first stone was Jesus and he chose not to, He knew that everyone had sinned at some point whether it be a little white lie, or something much more. When this story took place everyone was trying to stone a woman for adultery, Jesus knew that none of us would be perfect that's why He came to earth in the first place. When you try to judge others this is how Jesus feels same in this story. If you haven't sinned you're able to throw the first stone. When you feel like judging someone because what they wore to church, what vehicle they drive, the size of their house or even the way they look, think back on this story. The one who was good enough to throw the first stone didn't. He didn't choose to be mean, to be hard on people, He chose to give second chances even when we feel we don't deserve them. He chose to forgive and forget even when the people the very closest to Him betrayed him, such as Judas. He chose to show mercy on people others didn't even notice. He chose to be the one to eat with the sinners and to be a friend to all. We have to remember how Jesus acted when He was on earth next time we want to judge someone. Be more like Jesus today, forgive and forget, love where it's difficult too, and unless you've never sinned don't try to be the one to throw the first stone. Here are some verses to reflect on today. "For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged." Matthew 7:2 "Do not judge others, and you will not be judged." Matthew 7:1 "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own." Matthew 7:3 "Don't speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God's law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you." James 4:11 "Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven." Luke 6:37
