Give Thanks!

"Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart." Colossians 4:2

We should always pray, prayer isn't something we should use only when we need something from God. Prayer is our communication with God, it's how we grow closer to Him. Today take a moment to pray, not to ask for anything but thank Him for everything. We spend so much time asking God for things we forget to thank Him for everything. God doesn't want us to only talk about what we need, He also wants us to thank Him for what we already have. Think of it this way, we pray for a cake but instead God gives us cupcakes to test how thankful we are, if we don't thank Him for the small things, then we aren't doing enough. A thankful heart is a happy heart, we should always be thankful! Here are some verse to reflect on today. "But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57 "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God;s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." Philippians 4:6 "Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever." Psalms 106:1

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also.
