Be A Friend Who’s Thankful.

“A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” Proverbs‬ ‭17:17‬ ‭

Today is Thanksgiving, and as we gather around our family and those we love, to eat and talk we should be thankful for those that we have to spend this time with. I thought a lot today about those who don't have someone to spend the day with or go eat with, and those who had to work today and didn't have to time to go see their loved ones. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own lives that we forget to think about others. The Bible teaches us that we should be kind to others. If you get a chance in the next couple of days spend time with someone you know who spent the day alone, take them to lunch, invite them over to just spend some time together, or even just go see them for a few minutes if that's all you can do. Let them know that they aren't alone and that they have someone who cares and is a friend to them. Be the light of Jesus in their lives and love them like Jesus would. Be the kind of friend that Jesus would be to them. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs‬ ‭18:24‬ ‭ “The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.” Proverbs‬ ‭27:9 “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭ “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.” ‭‭John‬ ‭15:12‬ ‭

Wait Patiently!

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. The waiting is important and a lesson is somewhere in the midst. Today, whatever it is God is having you wait for know that the season of waiting is often a time you look back on as a blessing. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also. When God gives us what we are praying for we need to shout from the rooftops that God done it for us, that He made a way. We need to thank God, telling everyone about it.
