Friend’s That Sharpen You.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”Proverbs 27:17
God spoke to me tonight and said “blacksmith” it made no sense to me at first and I was utterly confused as to what He was trying to tell me. I then remembered a verse about “iron sharpens iron as a friend sharpens another” and I realized that we need to focus on being around people that uplift us rather than bring us down. If we’re around people that constantly bring us down and are negative we become like them. We think that who were around doesn’t matter, but it does. You start to become like them without even realizing it. When you’re around good people who are kind, loving, and help others you become more like them. We think it’s cool to have a lot of friends but it’s better to have a few true friends than millions of fake friends. It’s okay to have a small circle Jesus only had 12 close friends. Being surrounded by people is nice, but being around the right people is even better. Today make sure that your friends are sharpening you and not being the iron that keeps you dull. You’ll never be able to live out your full potential if you are constantly worried that you’ll leave the wrong people behind. The people meant to be in your life will grow to the next level with you rather than pulling you down. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”John 15:13 “A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.” Proverbs 16:28 “Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.” Proverbs 17:9 “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
