Who You Date Matters.
“His father and mother objected. “Isn’t there even one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry?” they asked. “Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?” But Samson told his father, “Get her for me! She looks good to me.”” Judges 14:3
We think that who we date doesn't matter, that we can just be with a person who doesn't have the same beliefs or be with someone who doesn't want the same kind of future that we do. If we look at Samson's story, he fell in love with a woman named Delilah. The philistines wanted to destroy Samson's strength that God gave to him, so they went to Delilah, they asked there to find out the secret of his great strength, she finally got him to tell her and the philistines captured him. The moral of the story is she was a philistine and didn’t have the same beliefs as he did, he trusted her to tell her about his strength and she betrayed him. We can't trust every person that we date with our secrets and with our purpose. Not everyone you have feelings for, or find attractive is meant for you to date. Who you date matters, pray before you jump into a relationship. You can't get with someone who doesn't see life the same way you do and expect it to work out. The person God has hand-picked for you will uplift you, encourage you, be there through all the hard times, love you when it is difficult, help you fulfill your purpose, and very most of all push you into God's arms not pull you away from Him. If your relationship is pulling you away from God, and His purpose for your life then ask God if that relationship is meant for you or made by you. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “Entice Samson to tell you what makes him so strong and how he can be overpowered and tied up securely. Then each of us will give you 1,100 pieces of silver.”” Judges 16:5 “Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut,” he confessed, “for I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.”” Judges 16:17 “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.” 2 Timothy 2:22
