Brag On God’s Mercy!

“If his good deeds had made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God’s way.” Romans‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭

If we were cleansed from our sins by all the good things that we do and say, then we could walk around bragging about how much of a great person we are to be saved but that is why Jesus didn’t do it that way. The Bible clearly teaches us that Jesus died for us while we were still sinners, therefore we were still living in sin when He went on the cross to die for us. He didn’t die for the best versions of ourselves He died for our sinful nature to be freed in Him through His crucifixion. We can boast all we want about God‘s mercy because that is the true reason that we are saved from all of our sins and our sins become white as snow. We have no room to be bragging about how we are saved by our good deeds because our good deeds have nothing to do with it, it’s called grace. The best part about God is He never runs out of grace for us no matter how far we run from Him and His will for our lives, He will always leave the 99 to find the one! It means so little thinking of Him leaving the 99 to find the one, maybe it almost seems as though it is senseless to do that to us, that is until you are the one that has wandered from God, and He leaves the 99 to come to find you. Today don’t brag about the good things that you’ve done or what you’re going to do, brag about God‘s mercy and His grace that never fails to save us in the depths of despair in our sin. He came into this world in a manger to be born to be a Savior to us all. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.” Lamentations‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭ “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentations‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭ “And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away!” Matthew‬ ‭18:13‬ ‭ “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭
