The Love Joesph Had.
“Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.” Matthew 1:19
The love Mary had for Jesus was like any other mother who has a child, but have you ever thought about the love Joseph had for Jesus although it wasn't his biological child? As I read the story in my devotional the other night I soon realized that Joseph thought of leaving Mary because as we can imagine it would be quite a shock for your fiancĂ© to come in and announce she is pregnant all though she is a virgin, knowing that it isn't your child. I can imagine he was completely shocked and confused about how she was pregnant and thought she had cheated. That is when God sent an angel to Joesph in a vision to tell Him all these things that were yet to come and to explain the situation, then the Bible says that He took Mary and made her his wife. Joesph knew it wasn't his biological child but he chose to marry Mary anyways and to take Jesus in as His own. As you read later in the story of Jesus you notice that a king was after Jesus to hurt Him and God told them to leave, and Joesph did just that. Joesph did all that he could to protect Jesus and loved him. I absolutely love that Joesph stayed with Mary and married her and didn't care what others would say because he knew what God told Him was true. Imagine if that is how we lived our lives after God showed us something? If we lived our lives without fear of what others had to say because we would rather base our lives and futures on what God has to say or if we lived life fearlessly in the words of God imagine how far we could go? Today live life for God, not by other people's opinions and protectives. Jesus came down to give us a personal relationship with Him so we didn't have to go through anyone else to get to him, so why should we worry about what others think about our lives and how we know God wants us to live? You're here to please God and not anyone else. When your will to please God outweighs your choice to please the world decisions become much easier because the path with God is always the righteous path. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20 “When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.” Matthew 1:24 “After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”” Matthew 2:13 “So Joseph got up and returned to the land of Israel with Jesus and his mother.” Matthew 2:21
