Feed Your Spirit Daily.
“I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.” Job 23:12
When we go to a restaurant to eat we try our best to not fill up on appetizers or water because then we wouldn’t be hungry for our meal. That’s how it is in our spiritual walk with God we can’t be filled with the lies the enemy tells us, earthly pleasures, money, sin, selfishness, greed, and completely full of ourselves because then we won’t be hungry for God. We have to stay hungry and on fire for God to grow spiritually. If we only read our Bible and pray on Sunday then our spirits aren’t being fed enough. That’s like only eating on Sundays and expecting to be full all week. It doesn’t work that way. I use to be the kind of Christian myself that only was spiritually fed on Sundays, but then God started to speak to me and say “you have to discipline yourself to walk with me daily.” I then changed my life and started to do devotions, read my Bible, and pray every day sometimes multiple times. If you’re feeling like the fire in your soul is gone to live for God then try to read His word, read a part of the Bible that you’re interested in to draw you in again until you feel that fire. We are here to set an example to others on how to live, and if we’re only growing once a week in our relationship with God then how can we be ministers of the Gospel daily? The answer is we can’t. We have to grow daily to understand daily things that happen in our lives. This year I suggest that you dive deep into God’s word daily, spend time alone in prayer, maybe in a small room where you have even a closet, and also do devotions to teach you things from a new perspective. Grow daily in Christ, and make sure your spirit is fed on Heavenly things rather than earthly things. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23 ““So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood—over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders.” Acts of the Apostles 20:28 “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” Galatians 5:16 “The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.” 1 Corinthians 12:9
