Getting On Fire For God.
“Now you should finish what you started. Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what you have.” 2 Corinthians 8:11
When we start our relationship with God we are so on fire for God, but often times we let that fire become dull instead of fueling it daily. Remember those times when you were so on fire for God and wanted to sit and read your Bible, listen to worship music, and pray for hours on end. Eventually, if we stop running after God and wanting to make an effort for our relationship with God, it will fade away and we will soon not want to make an effort. The Bible teaches that God comes close to those who come close to Him. If you want that fire in your soul to run after God again I suggest making reading the Bible a part of your routine until you become on fire for Him. Being on fire for God can begin in one step. If you make an effort even by just spending time in prayer, listening to worship music on the way to school or work, go to sleep listening to a sermon then God will come close to you. A relationship with God is a two-way street, we can't expect God to do all the work. Make an effort for God and He will do the same for you. Today, take a step on getting on fire for God again. You will feel better in your daily life, He brings you happiness, peace, hope, joy, and patience it gives us all the things we need to get through the day. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” James 4:8 “The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10 “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” Romans 8:38 “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
