How You Handle Circumstances.
“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James 1:19
How we handle circumstances shows our character in God. If we handle things out of anger it makes them more difficult, but a soft answer calms it. If we look at things in a positive aspect things go positive rather than looking at them negatively and getting a negative outcome. The way we should handle things is out of love, faith, patience, compassion, and joy. The world will teach us to be quickly angered but the Bible teaches us to be slow to anger. Things are always going to test our patience but we should cling to God knowing He is our ultimate source of strength and joy. When life tests you, don’t let your emotions get the best of you! The enemy tries to get us to handle things the opposite way than we should. Handling things calmly will be hard at first but the more you do it the easier it gets. If you take time to ask God before you react to a circumstance then God will show you the best way. It hurts others when we react harshly because words can’t be taken back. It is better to be kind and let things go than to hurt someone during the process. Overreacting can be easy at times, and saying something before you think can too, but if you learn to be slow to react and slow anger it saves you a lot of friendships, relationships, and people around you from being hurt. Today be slow to anger and let God lead you before you speak. Be kind to all even when they upset you knowing that it is better to not say something than to say something you might regret. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “‘The Lord is slow to anger and filled with unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. But he does not excuse the guilty. He lays the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations.’” Numbers 14:18 “The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” Psalms 103:8 “But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” Psalms 86:15 “A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” Proverbs 14:30
