Pruning For A Purpose!

“He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.”‭‭ John‬ ‭15‬:‭2‬ ‭

Have you ever been praying for something in your life and it seems as though God is silent? So many times in my life I have been going through something and it feels like God won’t answer me, and later down the road I realize that the things I was going through was teaching me to trust in Him more. That’s why God wants us to have faith in things we cannot see. God works best in the unknown and the broken. He takes the broken pieces of our lives and brings them back to life. I went through a season of pruning in my life. If you don’t know what pruning is here is the definition “trim (a tree, shrub, or bush) by cutting away dead or over grown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth.” Often times when you’re being used of God He will prune you. It sometimes feels like God is breaking you down instead of building you up, but it’s the process. God knows what is best for us if only we trust in Him fully. After being pruned God has taken the sin, hurt, failure and all the bad things out of us and replaced it with hope, joy, love and life again. It’s like being renewed to grow more spiritually. We can’t expect to grow in God if we hold on to the world. If you feel like God is pruning you then know that He is only helping you grow spiritually and mentally. The process is almost never easy and almost never feels good but the outcome will always be great. Keep your faith in God even when you cannot see. He has great plans for you, and He will bring you through. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭ “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” John‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬ ‭ “Hammer your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Train even your weaklings to be warriors.” Joel‬ ‭3‬:‭10 “Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭

Amen!! Pruning is what he does to us when we go through things. It's making us stronger as we go through it for tougher situations we'll face later in life.
