Remember The Essentials!
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” James 4:8
As we start off this new year we have to remember the important things to bring with us, such as our dedication and desire to please God and His will for our lives. I know that life can be busy and stressful but that isn’t an excuse for us to put our relationship with God on the back burner. We have to think of it like this, God takes care of every person on earth 24/7 but we have to keep communicating with Him to keep our personal relationship with Him. We can’t expect God to do everything for us! God can communicate with us but if we’re not doing our part it will never be enough. Having a one sided relationship with Him isn’t what God asked us to do. The importance of a relationship with God is something I can’t stress enough. We have to keep our focus on God to have anything in life. God is the foundation to all things. This year make it a need to spend at least 5 minutes with God even if it’s praying, reading the Bible or doing a devotional. If we spent time with God the way we listen to music, read books, watch movies or even do things we like to do then imagine how much our relationship with God would grow? The problem is we often times only go to God when we need something, but relationship with God is something that needs to be worked on daily. This year work on your relationship with God and spending time with him, then watch how much He comes through for you when you make Him a priority! Here are some verses to reflect on today! “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.” Nahum 1:7 “Come, everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise!” Psalms 47:1 “Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.” Hebrews 7:25 “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
