How To Forgive The Unforgivable.
“But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.”” Mark 11:25
When someone hurts or betrays us our flesh tells us to hold a grudge, it also tells us to not let them by with their mistakes. I know that emotions are hard to pass by, especially when you're hurt, but forgiveness isn't forgetting what someone did to you. Forgiveness begins in yourself, you don't have to tell someone you forgive them or continue to be around them every day. Take a look at Barabbas, he was a murderer. The people asked to let him go instead of Jesus because they hated Jesus. Jesus forgave Barabbas. Imagine the hurt Jesus felt over him, he was a murderer and they choose to let him go instead of Jesus who had done nothing wrong at all. Jesus never sinned, and He was the one to be crucified. Let's take Jesus' forgiveness a step further, when the soldiers were rolling dice for His clothes and they were the ones who beat Him Jesus said, "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing." He was dying a sinners death, on a cross for the sins of everyone and yet He chose to forgive those who were killing Him. Jesus never told any of the people to their faces that they were forgiven. You don't have to tell someone you forgive them to forget their sins and not hold it against them. Not forgiving someone is only making things hard on yourself, holding a grudge doesn't take the other person's peace away, it only takes away your own. You can't expect God to forgive you if you don't begin forgiving those around you. Today, forgive and put those things in the past behind you. God handles the things that you cannot. The Bible tells us that we are forgiven as much as we choose to forgive others, if you want God to be patient with you and forgive you then you must let that begin in yourself by forgiving those around you. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “But at this point the leading priests stirred up the crowd to demand the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus.” Mark 15:11 “Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.” Luke 23:34 “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32 ““If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.” Matthew 6:14
