Growing In The Uncomfortable.
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6
The only way to grow is to stop dodging being uncomfortable. You must realize that God sends us to awkward places to get us where we need to be. If you're in a position of being uncomfortable know that it is only a stop on the way to the main destination. It's like a bus, it makes many stops before reaching the destination. You just have to trust God with the process. I think of it like a butterfly, when in a cacoon it can't be comfortable but in order to become beautiful and fly it has to go through that process. When you're in uncomfortable moments know that God is teaching you something, He couldn't let you stay comfortable or you would have never moved or changed. When God has a plan for us He also has a process for us to grow through. If you feel uncomfortable today, think of how God is using this for your good. Being comfortable isn't always a good thing. You have to go through a process. As I talked to a friend today about growing in Christ, she reminded me that in often times when we are growing in Christ that we will have growing pains. Just because it is painful and uncomfortable doesn't mean we should give up, rather it means we should go through it in order to grow. You have to start thinking of things as a purpose. Today, pray and ask God to strengthen you to grow through the uncomfortable moments in life. Next time you're uncomfortable in a situation remind yourself that it's God who wants you to grow through whatever you are facing. Keep growing and watch God do great things in your life for the better. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.” 2 Corinthians 12:7 “In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.” 1 Peter 5:10 “So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.” 1 Peter 4:19 “And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.” Luke 8:15
