Keep On Asking!
““Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Do you ever ask God something in prayer and feel as though you annoy Him? I feel sometimes that my prayers are repetitive and that it annoys God. Tonight, I had a new perspective on it. I saw this verse and it reminded me that is exactly what God wants, He wants us to keep asking. We take God's not nows as a no a lot of times, but the reality of it God doesn't mean no. In the past I prayed for a car, for what felt like ever, I thought that God wouldn't answer me because it was impossible from my point of view to be able to afford something reliable. I really wanted a white car with black stripes and whatever model we could afford at the time. I kept asking God for it, even through the doubt, through the pain, and though I could not see it. As time went on I decided to settle for less than I had originally asked for in thoughts of creating the car to have stripes on it and it was already white. As my dad and I went to leave the car lot the owner, that we knew, told us to come inside and look at a nicer car than what I originally looked at, he told us that was being worked on in the shop. As the owner walked off I really deep down felt disappointed to look at what I couldn't have, but I went inside his office and sat down. He showed me pictures of it, it was a solid white car and I smiled and said, "It's really nice!". He then told me his next plan was to add stripes to it, I turned to my dad in disbelief because I hadn't mentioned what I was wanting and smiled, my dad looked up and said don't sell it until we can see it. Within two weeks we got all the information and paid only a little more of what we would have for the car I was settling for. I said all of this not to boast but to say, those prayers I prayed that felt unaccounted for were still heard. They were being worked out before I knew it. God had the plan in motion while I was waiting. I thought I was settling but God said, "Wait! Here is a better car than you ever imagined you could own." Through the doubt, through the pain, through the hurt and even through the wanting to give up and wavering God will still bless you! Whatever it is you're praying for, God can still work it out! Just because you think you should settle for less doesn't mean that God isn't working behind the scenes for you at this exact moment! Here are some verses to reflect on today. “At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.” John 16:23 “But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask.”” John 11:22 “And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.” 1 John 5:14 “Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” Matthew 6:8
