Love Is...
“If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3
I read a quote once: "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever. Verses 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, it tells you everything you need to know. If you are thinking of being with someone replace their name with love, if they don't show these characteristics then they are not for you." Think about it slowly, each one of these is the things we should show daily to those we love. We should have all of these things as a goal for everyone we meet not just people we are in a relationship with. We should make sure to choose people that aren't only right for us, but also the person right for our walks with God. If someone pulls you away from God then they aren't sent from God. God would never send you someone that will pull you away from Him. He will only send you people who push you towards Him, whether it be friends or relationships. Make sure that the person you choose to be with is someone who loves and chases God just as much as you do, and that their walk with God is in line. The way they love you should be the way Jesus loves the church. Always choose wisely because if you try to be with someone that is unequally yoked then it could be that they pull you away from God. I know it's easy to want to change someone, but no one ever changes unless they want to themselves. You can't make someone change things they don't see a problem with themselves. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 “What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?” 2 Corinthians 6:15 “We love each other because he loved us first.” 1 John 4:19 “Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” 2 John 1:6
