Trusting God Even When Storms Come.

“He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.” Psalms‬ ‭107:29‬ ‭

When I got up this morning I knew that we had been told for over a week that storms would be a bad storm in my area. As I walked outside I felt a feeling I knew too well by living in the south, it was that gut-wrenching feeling of something terrible happening. Most times I think this does get bad around me. All day I felt it hit me in my gut, and was almost nauseous from it. I prayed all day over the storm. I prayed it would not hit anywhere but instead not be as bad as expected. Storms started about 8PM and they were about 100 miles southwest of us, heading north there was a confirmed tornado on the ground when our meteorologist went live. I watched the weather all night and prayed. As the time came closer they showed my city on the map and it was headed for me, it turned and hit about 7 miles south, traveling north and hit a town about 10 miles from me. It is devastating how things like this happen to good people. It hurts me for these towns around me that were impacted by these storms. In all the devastation and the middle of the storms even literal ones we have to remember that the God who gives also takes away. It hurts me to watch this and I know it hurts God to see us hurt. Although we never will understand God's thoughts, His plans nor His reasoning for some things He has a plan for all things. In times of tragedy, we must remember that our hope, peace, and joy come from God alone. We must keep our trust in God. In all these events that seem to rip our hearts apart, remember that the God that was good yesterday, is still good today, although sometimes life is not. In the eye of the storm, God is still in control. It may not feel like it as the winds rise but the same Jesus who calmed the storm, is still in charge. Keep holding on to God through it all. Although I am blessed I missed myself and my home my heart aches for those so close and near to me. My family even was impacted by the storm. Prayers for the towns around me, and God's peace to be near to all that are devastated tonight. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.” Matthew‬ ‭8:24‬ ‭ “The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.” Luke‬ ‭8:24‬ ‭ “It will be a shelter from daytime heat and a hiding place from storms and rain.”Isaiah‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭
