First Thought Of Everyday.
“You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.” Exodus 34:14
Our last thought at night and first thought in the morning are often considered to be the true desire of our hearts at the time. The Bible teaches us that we should have no other God. Now I'm not saying we can't love the person we're with, love to play video games or watch tv but we cannot make anything an idol over God. We should pray before we sleep thanking God for the day He so graciously has given us and when we wake up thank God for another chance to serve Him. You cannot let things in your everyday life become greater than the One who gives you life every day. Think about it like this, if you spend the entire day watching tv, going to hang out with friends, texting on your phone, or anything else you're not going to have enough time for God. Your first priority should be to help your relationship with God thrive. You can't expect God to bless you with everything you want in life if you never talk to Him and constantly put everyone and everything in life above Him. I read a quote once that named off a bunch of things that we do such as spend hours watching movies, playing on our phones, and spending time with friends but we struggle to read the Bible for 5 minutes. It's the reality of how life sometimes becomes but we have to overcome it. We have to make up our minds to putting God first and spending all the time we can with Him. Today, make time for God, make time to read His Word, pray and truly seek His will for your life. Remind yourself that there is never a day that God has forgotten to wake you up so don't forget to spend time with Him. Make sure you put God first not only in everything you do and say but to put Him above everyone and everything! Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.” Luke 12:31 “For although the first woman came from man, every other man was born from a woman, and everything comes from God.” 1 Corinthians 11:12 “The Lord alone guided them; they followed no foreign gods.” Deuteronomy 32:12 “The people replied, “We would never abandon the Lord and serve other gods.” Joshua 24:16
