Beauty Standards.
“You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3:4
Don't let the world dictate what the definition of beauty is. The world will tell you that you have to be perfect in every aspect but God's beauty standards are much different than that. The Bible says that He judges on the heart. Someone can be "perfect" in the world's beauty standards but it means nothing if their heart is ugly. This generation is different because we have social media to compare ourselves to others, but we have to remind ourselves that what truly matters is how we act and treat other people. Your looks won't get you very far in life but your kindness, hard work, love, compassion, and trust in God will. Today, remind yourself that the true beauty standard is something that you already are one of that being God's greatest creations and all you have to do is let the fruits of the Spirit and God be what others see in you and you see in yourself. For a long time, I was unhappy and dealt with self-hatred, but once I found God and grew close to Him I began to see the reason He created the things I hated most about myself, the way He made me unique and one of His true perfect creations like all of us are. We are made perfect in the image of God. Your confidence is based on when you realize that God created you perfect the way that you are not what the world thinks. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” Proverbs 31:30 “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”” 1 Samuel 16:7 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” Psalms 37:4
