What A Real Christian Is.
“Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” Mark 8:34
Going to church on Sundays doesn't make you a Christian, a walk with God daily does. The Bible says that we should pick up our cross daily to follow Him. If God intended for us to only pray, listen to the Bible, and read it on Sunday then He would have said, "Pick up your cross weekly." But He didn't say that He instead said daily. Joyce Meyer has a quote that says, "Just because you go to church doesn't mean you're a Christian. I can sit in a garage all day and that doesn't make me a car." I loved it when I read it because it's so true. Sitting in a building doesn't make you a Christian, but talking to God daily does, reading your Bible to learn all about Him and how you should live your life, and most of all knowing the only way you can be saved is through Jesus who sent the Holy Spirit to us. Remind yourself that going to church is great for encouragement and to be around other believers is great, but it doesn't make you a Christian. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”Galatians 2:20 “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 “The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18
