Listen To God!

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James‬ ‭1:19‬ ‭

Often we pray until we think God hears us but in reality, we should pray until we hear God speak to us. No one likes to have a conversation with someone who talks themselves the whole time and never lets you get a word in, I know I don't. Why would God want us to spend all our time in prayer talking but never listening? God speaks to each of us in our own ways and we know how to understand what He is saying, when you spend your time in prayer today take time to not only listen but understand what God is trying to tell you. Oftentimes times the silence of prayer is what helps us understand things that we did not yet know we needed to understand. Today, when you find yourself babbling on about anything in prayer ask God for His input in your life. Listening to God is the best decision you can and will ever make in your entire life. He is the purpose of our lives and the one person who understands what our choices in life will amount to. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.” Psalms‬ ‭116:1‬ ‭ “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭ “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James‬ ‭1:22‬ ‭ “But my people have not listened to me or even tried to hear. They have been stubborn and sinful—even worse than their ancestors.” Jeremiah‬ ‭7:26‬ ‭

Amen!! I know this, but need to put ivmire into practice. I need to sometimes pray more about things so he knows I mean business on him to move about the situation.

Wait Patiently!

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also.
