Get Your Priorities Straight!

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”James‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭

You've got to stop and ask yourself daily, "Is what I'm doing leading me closer to God or further away from Him?" Nothing in this world will ever come close to being as valuable as your relationship with God. There have been times I have not done my best in my relationship with God, I've put video games, watching TV, hanging with friends, relationships, and events above Him on my daily priorities. I must return to the mindset of "Does any of that amount to anything?" At the end of the day, we can play a video game later, watch TV some other time spend time with our friends tomorrow and a relationship is something that should understand your reasoning for canceling. Your plans aren't more important than your relationship with God. Today, ask yourself, are you making true time for God alone, are you putting anything above that relationship with God? If you're not making time, or putting things above God then you need to come to a place where you get your priorities straight. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.” Mark‬ ‭1:35‬ ‭ “But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” Matthew‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭ “After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.” Matthew‬ ‭14:23‬ ‭ “He went in alone and shut the door behind him and prayed to the Lord.” 2 Kings‬ ‭4:33‬ ‭

Wait Patiently!

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also.
