Don't Get Distracted.

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”James‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭

Why is it that when we find a new friendship or a new relationship, the main thing we put on the back burner is Jesus? We take the one relationship that should be above all else and put it in a corner until we need something. I remember I was in a season of waiting for a relationship. During that time, I became closer to God than ever before.  In life, we will have friends that come and go, but we have to remain in our faith no matter who we are around. Having friends is something we all want, and need. We also should know that having friends is not above our relationship with God. We should never get so caught up in anything that we forget our true values, thoughts, and relationship with God. Today, stick by your relationship with God no matter who walks into your life. Never get so distracted by things around you that you forget the Spirit that lives within you. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.” Psalms‬ ‭73:28‬ ‭ “The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.”Psalms‬ ‭145:18‬ ‭ “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.”Nahum‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭ “The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.” Proverbs‬ ‭12:26‬ ‭

Wait Patiently!

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. The waiting is important and a lesson is somewhere in the midst. Today, whatever it is God is having you wait for know that the season of waiting is often a time you look back on as a blessing. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also. When God gives us what we are praying for we need to shout from the rooftops that God done it for us, that He made a way. We need to thank God, telling everyone about it.
