The Real Gifts We Need.

“Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:15‬ ‭

Jesus was, is, and forever will be the greatest gift this earth could ever wish for. But we each have things we do wish for in life. This Christmas season has been an odd one for me so far. After being sick for four days, I have officially tested positive for Covid. Although I did not get to celebrate in the way I thought I would, I have spent more time in prayer. This year I have learned it's not about the things we make it out to be, it's about celebrating Jesus, and worshipping Him. I have learned that we sometimes focus on the things that don't mean as much as we think, but instead the small stuff. Good health, happiness, contentment, peace, and hope are the things we really wish for in the Christmas season. That is what we are searching for, not something that can be wrapped and placed under a tree. Today, celebrate Jesus knowing the gifts we truly wish for can only be found through Him. Here are some verses to reflect on today. ““I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭ “Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you,” ‭‭John‬ ‭17:7‬ ‭ “However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭ “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭

Wait Patiently!

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also.
