Truly Know God!

“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭

Being taught about Jesus and choosing a relationship with Him are two different things. There was a trend on social media going around where you show a picture of you as a child listing why you knew Jesus, then a little older and then now. My reasoning as a child was, I knew Jesus because my dad was a pastor and my parents told me all about Him. As I got older I knew Him because I was in a youth group and began to get to know Him for myself. Now, I know Him because I have a relationship with Him, He freed me from anxiety and I live in peace through Him everyday. See in life we go through stages, at times we're a different person than we were before and in the future will be. We will know who Jesus is but what matters is the effort we make in a relationship with Him. Knowing God is great but having a relationship with Him is waking up each day to make that effort we need to make to grow as close as we can to Him. As the Bible says to pick up our cross daily and follow Him. Today, don't just know Jesus, gain a true relationship with Him as if He is your best friend and Savior all in one, which He is. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.” Matthew‬ ‭10:38‬ ‭ “Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” Mark‬ ‭8:34‬ ‭ ““My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah‬ ‭55:8‬ ‭ “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:9‬ ‭

Wait Patiently!

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ If God is making you wait, then wait patiently. Nothing in the waiting is a waste. I remember a time in my life where I was praying for something, I waited years and seem to receive no answer. I waited and waited. Somedays I was impatient and cried all day, other days I waited with patience of steel and praised God for what I knew I would someday receive. Sometimes the waiting is easy, other times it is an uphill battle. Whenever we are waiting we will go through different seasons, but we can count on the fact that God is at work for us. Don't Forget God!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ Don't forget God when you receive what you are praying for. God knows the things that we want the most, and often times He does give us what we want. When God does give us the things we want we have to stop and give thanks. It's like this, if you give someone a gift that you know they have really been wanting, something they will absolutely love, and they don't even say thank you it would hurt your feelings. It would make you feel like they don't appreciate you. If someone asked how they got the gift and they said they got it for themselves it would make you hurt also. When God gives us what we are praying for we need to shout from the rooftops that God done it for us, that He made a way. We need to thank God, telling everyone about it.
