Truly Know God!
“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23
Being taught about Jesus and choosing a relationship with Him are two different things. There was a trend on social media going around where you show a picture of you as a child listing why you knew Jesus, then a little older and then now. My reasoning as a child was, I knew Jesus because my dad was a pastor and my parents told me all about Him. As I got older I knew Him because I was in a youth group and began to get to know Him for myself. Now, I know Him because I have a relationship with Him, He freed me from anxiety and I live in peace through Him everyday. See in life we go through stages, at times we're a different person than we were before and in the future will be. We will know who Jesus is but what matters is the effort we make in a relationship with Him. Knowing God is great but having a relationship with Him is waking up each day to make that effort we need to make to grow as close as we can to Him. As the Bible says to pick up our cross daily and follow Him. Today, don't just know Jesus, gain a true relationship with Him as if He is your best friend and Savior all in one, which He is. Here are some verses to reflect on today. “If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.” Matthew 10:38 “Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” Mark 8:34 ““My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah 55:8 “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9
